The Year of Networking

Last year, a group of arts people around Bega decided to get together every couple of months and do lunch.  What started as a simple social gathering has become a really valuable networking excercise.

The location moves around and the attendance varies but the formula is simple - once lunch is ordered everyone round the table has no more than 5 minutes to share any news, problems or ask a question.  It is not a meeting, there are no minutes, but ideas flow and, invariably, good things ensue.

Given its success, we are keen to try it in other parts of the region.  The first one for the Monaro was held in Cooma on 20 Feb and there was unanimous agreement to go again so the next date for the Monaro Art Lunch is 23 April.

As well as the three geographic groups, SEAR is also supporting artform networks with the first meeting of the South East Music Network last December.  We aim to get a Festival & Events Network underway shortly, and possibly Touring.

The region wide groups will be more of an online network as regional meetings are hard to sustain but there is the capacity for these groups to be more proactive and strategic.
