SEAR is a regional development organisation with the status of a non profit incorporated association. SEAR has a board of 12 members and a staff of 2.6 (EFP) consisting of a General Manager, based in Bega, and two Cultural Development Officers, one based in Jindabyne and Cooma and one based in Moruya.
The Board is comprised of 5 Council delegates, 5 arts/community representatives and two co-opted members.
What does SEAR do? Supports arts and cultural development in the region by providing advice and assistance across all art forms and undertaking strategic initiatives for the communities, artists and Councils of Bega Valley, Bombala, Cooma Monaro, Eurobodalla and Snowy River.
What is the mission of SEAR? To increase support for, participation in and benefits from arts and cultural development for our communities.
What is the program brief? "The Councils have jointly agreed to establish the South East Arts Region as a catalyst and vehicle for regional cultural development for the social and economic benefit of local communities." First clause in the draft Memo of Understanding
| What is the program rationale? 1. A regional program provides affordable access to cultural development expertise for rural shires. 2. Development of regional infrastructure supports cultural activities at a local community level. 3. A regional program engenders stronger co-operation and collaboration to maximise available resources.
When was it formed? SEAR was developed during 2001 and incorporated in 2002, becoming the 11th regional arts development program operating in NSW as part of the Regional Arts NSW network.
How is SEAR funded? Financial contributions from each of the five Councils is matched with a contribution from Arts NSW for the annual operating expenses.
Where is SEAR based ?
